The business includes nine sites of collection, processing and recycling with a landfill site in Waals-Brabant, which will become part of A&G, a part of Van Gansewinkel Groep.

The sites are to be integrated into the three regions of Van Gansewinkel in Belgium.

A&G has two landfill sites in the Netherlands and specializes in soil decontamination and remediation.

Van Gansewinkel Groep CEO and chairman of the board of directors Ruud Sondag said the operations are in line with the company’s strategy to strengthen its position in the Benelux countries.

"By taking this major step together with our shareholders we have now definitely started out on the road to growth. The acquisition will further strengthen our balance sheet position," added Groep.

Veolia acquired the solid waste management business from Biffa in 2006.
