The V136-3.45MW turbine, which was unveiled two years ago, features large diameter steel tower, making it ideal for the many mid-wind and low-wind sites across the US.

The order includes both the 2MW and 4MW platforms.

The project includes V136-3.45MW turbines in Power Optimized Mode to 3.6 MW, and V110-2.0MW turbines. The project, which includes PTC components purchased earlier, has a total size of 150MW and consists of 47 turbines.

Delivery of the V136-3.45MW and V110-2.0MW turbines is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2018 and the project is scheduled for commissioning in the fourth quarter.

Vestas will supply and commission the wind turbines, besides providing a full-scope service package under a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement to maximize uptime and energy production.

Vestas US and Canada sales and service division president Chris Brown said: “We’re proud to announce our first full V136 order in the US, which underscores the strong fit and versatility of Vestas’ powerful 4MW platform in North America.”

“These turbines will deliver low-cost, reliable wind energy to the region, all while generating millions in economic benefit for the community, and supporting growth in a thriving American manufacturing supply chain.”

The V136-3.45MW turbines have been ordered for installation in Finland, Italy and Mexico. This model is also being marketed in China.

Since its launch in 2010, over 14GW of the 4MW platform have been installed in 34 countries, including 2GW in the US.
