Under the contract, Vestas will supply, install and commission 70 units of the V110-1.8 MW turbine for the project, which is expected to help reduce the country’s reliance on imported fossil fuels.

Vestas Asia Pacific & China president Chris Beaufait said: "We are pleased that Energy Absolute has selected Vestas to partner with them for their first wind energy project, which will contribute to enhancing Thailand’s energy independence."

"With our technologically advanced 2MW variant turbine and our unique tower crane solution, which is well-suited for this project, Vestas can provide Energy Absolute an superior annual energy production and low cost of energy, helping to secure business case certainty for their investment."

The scope of the contract also includes a five-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service contract, which involves defined level guarantees of availability and performance.

Vestas is scheduled to commence turbines delivery in 2016 while the wind farm is also planned to be commissioned in the same year.

Separately, Vestas secured contract from TuuliWatti to supply, install and commission 27 V126-3.45 MW turbines for the Simo III wind power project in the province of Lapland, Finland.

The order also includes a 10-year AOM 5000 service agreement.

Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen said: "With this project, we build on our strong collaboration with TuuliWatti Oy from previous record projects like the 73 MW Kalajoki wind farm, which was Finland’s very first large-scale wind power plant at the time of order."
