The deal requires the company to deliver and install 12 units of its V112-3.3MW wind turbines to Eolica Cancellara SRL, a subsidiary of Energreen Holding Italia.

Vestas will also be responsible for electrical infrastructure works of the wind farm. The deal includes a 10-year service agreement.

The Cancellara wind project, which is expected to start operations in the first quarter of 2016, will generate around 100,440 Mwh of energy per year, enough for about 116,000 people.

Vestas Mediterranean president Marco Graziano said: "We are pleased to partner for the first time with Energreen to take the Italian wind energy sector one step further.

"We look forward to a close collaboration from the earliest stages of the project through to completion."

Vestas has installed about 3.5GW of wind power capacity in Italy since 1991.

Denmark-based Vestas has delivered wind energy in 73 countries globally. Wind power from the company’s more than 54,200 turbines presently reduce over 60 million tons of carbon emissions per year.
