The sale underlines the continuing popularity of Vestas’ well-proven V52 with customers and the outstanding productivity of the turbine, particularly for high, or class 1, wind sites. Vestas has now sold more than 990 V52s in China in less than five years.

Delivery of the turbines is planned to take place from May until July 2009.

Last week, the partnership between Datang Tongliao and Vestas was further strengthened by the signing of a framework cooperation agreement between Datang Tongliao, Vestas and the government of Hohhot, IMAR, to jointly develop wind energy in and around Hohhot and IMAR.

Recently, Vestas announced the launch of its new V60-850 kW turbine, which is based on our high performing V52-850 kW machine, but with significant new innovations that result in improved performance, versatility and ease of use.

The V60-850 kW is tailored for Inner Mongolian wind, weather and grid conditions, particularly in the low and medium wind segments which comprise 75% of remaining and as yet untapped available Chinese wind resources.

”China Datang is a valued and key partner of Vestas and very forward-looking utility with long-term focus on guaranteed return on their investments in wind power in China,” said Vestas China President Lars Andersen. “Our partnership with Datang dates back to early 2005 when we reached our first sales agreement. I am proud to say that our relationship with Datang has become a true long-term, win-win partnership and that we look forward to many years of successful cooperation.”
