This system includes monitoring and control functions allowing the wind park to be controlled in the same way as a conventional power plant. In this way, customers have full control of power production as well as full overview of the operational status of each individual wind turbine, the company said.

The site of the project is in Yanchi, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and the wind turbines are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2010. As of December 2009, Vestas had an accumulated installed capacity of approximately 2,000MW in China.

Jens Tommerup, president of Vestas China, said: “Building on the efforts we have put into developing a strong base in China over the past few years, we are very pleased to see that companies entering the wind energy business are aware of the quality level of the products and services Vestas can offer.

“Master Investment Company, which is a large influential entity in Ningxia, has chosen Vestas because of our strong technical capabilities in wind turbine siting and due to the quality of our products.”
