Voith Hydro Shanghai Co., Ltd has signed a deal with Henan Tianchi Pumped Storage Co Ltd to equip the 1200MW Henan Tianchi pumped storage plant in Henan Province, China.
Voith Hydro Shanghai Co., Ltd has signed a deal with Henan Tianchi Pumped Storage Co Ltd to equip the 1200MW Henan Tianchi pumped storage plant in Henan Province, China.
The firms signed a contract in December 2017 which will see Voith supply four 300MW Francis reversible pump turbines and generators, together with auxiliary equipment. The equipment is to be completed by December 2020, with the first unit scheduled for operation by September 2021 and the last by June 2022.
The plant is located on the upper reaches of Huangya River. Constructed by Henan Tianchi Pumped Storage Co., Ltd., it comprises an upper reservoir, water-carriage system, underground powerhouse system, lower reservoir and ground switch station. It will be a first-class large-scale project upon completion. In addition, as part of the upgrade, oil and grease-free bearings were installed to avoid environmental damage.
