This will be the first horizontal Tar formation well drilled in the Northwest extension of the WTU. This is also the first of eight Tar formation oil wells that are currently planned to be drilled during the second and third quarters of 2010, the company said.
The WTU No 2171 well is being directionally drilled to a total measured depth of approximately 5,300ft. The company anticipates that the drilling and completion operations for this well will take approximately two weeks.
