The project is expected to be capable of generating approximately 600 million kWh of power annually. WEA anticipates moving forward on several development milestones including evaluation of five years of meteorological data, permitting, interconnection and power purchase agreement negotiations over the coming months, the company said.
Brian Hill, chief development officer of WEA, said: “With our request for interconnection to Black Hills Power, we are able to advise shareholders and other interested parties that our Weston Wind I project, which will be sited on a recently leased 10,000+ acre privately-owned ranch, is proceeding satisfactorily and as contemplated by the company.”
WEA operates and develops utility scale wind energy. Through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, the company owns developer’s interests in three wind farms on Buffalo ridge in southwest Minnesota. WEA has commissioned 2MW of its 4MW project in Osceola county, Iowa.
