Last year, a lawsuit was filed by Tom Miller, attorney general of Iowa Department of Justice, against Welch Oil, which owns and operates the truck stop and Boondocks USA for the alleged violations of norms regarding wastewater discharge and compliance with monitoring requirements for public water supply.

Under the consent decree, Welch Oil is required to upgrade the truck stop’s wastewater treatment facility by October 15, 2010 in addition to the fulfillment of monitoring and reporting requirements for its public water supply.

Mr Miller, said: “We are pleased that this matter has been resolved. More importantly, we are pleased that the company will ensure future compliance by upgrading its wastewater treatment system. This enforcement action will help protect the public and the environment.”
