According to the company, electricity generated by the project will be sold to state-run Mangalore Electric Supply.

Developed by Welspun’s subsidiary Welspun Solar Kannada under the Karnataka Solar policy 2011-16, the project is expected to generate enough electricity to power about 48,000 homes for the next 25 years.

Welspun said that the project includes a 8MW and 11MW power plants. The 8MW plant had been commissioned in 2013 while the 11MW has now been developed.

With the completion of the project, Welspun’s total electricity generation capacity now stands at 328MW.
