The Westchester County has chosen BrightHome Energy Solutions as an approved contractor for the Home Energy Assessment Program, under which BrightHome will offer free home energy assessments for 2,000 county residents on a first-come first-serve basis.

The homeowners can set up an appointment for an energy assessment with an authorized contractor, who will determine whether the homeowner qualifis for free assessment and then pay a visit to the home to conduct the free energy audit.

On the basis of the results of the complimentary assessment, the homeowners can decide whether they want to follow-up at their expense by hiring that contractor, or another for a more comprehensive assessment to make their home energy efficient.

Westchester County executive Robert Astorino said that these assessments will not only be free, but they will also save homeowners money in the long run.

“Once you get the facts and know how efficient your heating and cooling systems are, you can figure out what improvements are needed to make your home more energy efficient and reduce your energy bills,” Astorino said.
