The appointment occurs as White Energy looks to ramp-up its North American presence, and capitalize on the opportunities available working with American coal producers in the Powder River Basin, to produce a cleaner, more energy-efficient coal product from their sub-bituminous coal reserves.

Ms Tanselle joins White Energy from JM Energy Advisors, where she was principal of an energy consulting company specializing in advising US-based power companies and others involved in the competitive energy industry on risk management, portfolio optimization, project development and environmental strategy.

Immediately prior to her time with JM Energy, Ms Tanselle was an executive director of New Jersey-based NRG Energy where she was responsible for managing its coal and emissions procurement and trading activities.

She also serves on the board of directors for the Coal Trading Association, is a past member of the New York Mercantile Exchange Coal Advisory Committee and a past president and director of the Lexington Coal Exchange.

John Atkinson, managing director of White Energy Company, said: The appointment of such a senior figure in the American coal industry sends a clear signal of our intent in the US market, particularly the Powder River Basin.
