The company said the study will provide a valuation on the estimated gas and condensate reserves associated with the field.

WHL Energy has submitted documentation related to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act), as part of its application process to acquire 3D seismic over the VIC/P67 permit.

As part of its work commitments for the permit, WHL Energy will acquire 811km² of 3D seismic over the VIC/P67 permit.

The data from the survey will help to commence resource assessment and field development plans for the La Bella field.

VIC/P67 field, located about 200km WSW of Melbourne, includes the undeveloped La Bella gas/condensate field, which is expected to contain a 2C Contingent Resources of 158 petajoules (PJ).

The La Bella field lies in 95m of water about 55km off the southern Victorian coast.

WHL Energy has also informed that it has appointed Mr David Rowbottam as the new Company Secretary.

Rowbottam, who has held senior management positions with companies such as Antares Energy, Alinta Group and the BHP Group, will take over the new role effective from the end of January 2013.
