Australia’s biggest wind farm will be built on the north west coast of Tasmania.
The 10.5 MWe plant will start commercial operations in January 2001. The Hydro-Electric Corporation believes that the site has the potential to produce 100 MWe. Further developments will depend on construction of the Basslink, the cable that will allow Tasmania to export power into the mainland Australian market.
