The floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project is made up of the Petrel, Frigate and Tern gas fields, which are situated in the Timor Sea.

The gas fields were previously stranded, but recent technology advancement and innovations have made the fields economically viable to develop.

Bonaparte LNG project is GDF’s first project in Australia and is expected give the company a foothold in the Asian Pacific gas markets.

Wood Group Kenny Australia regional director Phil Brown said, "This is a new client for us and we hope to establish a long and successful business relationship with them."

The subsea concept definition study will be executed by Wood Group Kenny’s Australian team in Perth, Western Australia.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
