The project involves peaking plant installation on a turnkey basis. In addition, a GE Frame 7EA gas turbine supplied by Petra Nova will be installed.

As part of the overall project, the UK-based group will perform a major inspection and all required maintenance on the gas turbine.

The gas-fired plant is expected to be completed by the summer of 2013, in time to provide additional power to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market.

Petra Nova Commercial vice president David Greeson said, "Their gas turbine experience makes Wood Group GTS well suited to the demands of the W. A. Parish peaking project. We are looking forward to working with their team.”

In future, NRG is likely to convert the peaking unit for use in the planned commercial scale W. A. Parish post-combustion carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS) project.
