French Caisse des Depots participates in the project with an equity of approximately 23% of the share capital together with Societe Groupe Chaze Environnement.
The biogas plant will be built to process solid biomass, liquid biomass and fats.
In addition to producing green energy, the facility will also provide META-BIO with an opportunity to develop its range of fertilizer products produced from biomass residue.
The new plant will have an annual process capacity of 23,000 tons of biomass, and facilities for receiving all kinds of biomass will be installed.
The plant will be fitted with an Xergi unit specially designed to homogenise and pasteurise biomass.
Energy will be produced using a gas-engine with 1MW capacity, and the electricity will be purchased by Electricite de France.
Construction of the plant started last month and the facility is expected to start operation by the end of this year.
Xergi specializes in biogas, from development of technology to supplying turnkey plants.
