As per the MoU, the government will spend $500m over the next two years on the power transmission infrastructure, BusinessDay reported.

Export-Import Bank of China is expected to provide the funding for the projects.

Manitoba Hydro International and Transmission Company of Nigeria (Manitoba Hydro) will be engaged to develop, upgrade and deliver transmission lines.

In addition, the company will also construct new sub-stations in the country.

Under the terms of the MoU, the ministry will provide the technical details of the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s projects list to Xian Electric that will be considered for implementation and to facilitate the execution of needed commercial agreements as may be required for the bankability of the projects.
