Solar panel

The plant occupies more than 100ha of land in western Huangshi City and will feature around 170,000 YGE 72 Cell Series multicrystalline solar panels.

After completion, the plant will generate 55,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy per year and cut down more than 50,000 tons of carbon emissions.

The plant will be interconnected with the local utility grid and start operations in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Yingli Green said Huangshi City was designated as a pilot city for the reclamation of abandoned mining lands and former industrial sites by China’s Ministry of Land and Resources in January 2013.

The plant will serve as a important demonstration project for the integration of solar power into land revitalization programs throughout China.

Yingli Green Energy chairman and chief executive officer Liansheng Miao said: "This highly replicable project shows how solar power can be integrated into ecological restoration programs, stimulating the local economy and providing clean power to the community while simultaneously aiding in land revitalization."

Headquartered in Baoding, China, Yingli Green Energy has distributed over 10GW of solar panels to global customers.
