Located near San Diego the large project covers an area of 1,600 acres and is projected to begin commercial operation after June 2014.
Yingli Americas business development director Mathew Sachs sought to highlight the company’s success in becoming a preffered supplier for solar projects in the region.
"By establishing a superior process to address both the commercial and technical hurdles such projects present, we are extremely confident in our ability to execute such mega projects," said Sachs.
Centinela Solar Energy is a member of LS Power Group, which is a power generation and transmission project developer.
The company has employed professional services company Fluor to undertake engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services at the project.
San Diego Gas and Electric will procure the electricity generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
