Located in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, the Yeosu Thermal Power Plant has been comprised of a 200MW heavy oil-fired unit and a 329MW coal-fired fluidized bed (CFB) unit with a current total capacity of 528MW.

Under the project, the No. 1 heavy-oil fired unit will be replaced with another coal-fired CFB boiler and a steam turbine that will generate 350MW.

The upgraded No. 1 unit is scheduled to start operation in November 2015.

As part of the contract, Yokogawa will supply a comprehensive range of control and instrumentation, including CENTUM VP integrated production control systems for the power plant’s boilers, turbine, and auxiliary facilities, as well as engineering and installation.

In addition, Yokogawa will provide the turbine control system for the project.
