Under the contract, Yokogawa will supply each of the four units with CENTUM VP R5 integrated production control system for the control of the boiler and its auxiliary facilities; a ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system (SIS); an Exaquantum plant information management system (PIMS); a plant operation training simulator.

The company will also provide PK200 current-to-pneumatic converters, liquid analysis system consisting of conductivity, pH, and residual chlorine analyzers as well as duct gas analysis system consisting of oxygen, infrared gas, and TDLS200 tunable diode laser analyzers.

Yokogawa Middle East & Africa subsidiary Yokogawa Saudi Arabia will be responsible for the engineering and commissioning of the DCSs, SISs, and PIMSs while Yokogawa Electric and Yokogawa Electric Korea will be responsible for the engineering and delivery of the current-to-pneumatic converters and the analysis systems.

Saudi Arabia’s first supercritical thermal power plant, Jeddah South, is being built by Saudi Electricity at a site south of the city of Jeddah.

The project’s sage-1 involves the construction of four 723 MW units producing a total of 2,892 MW while unit 1 is expected to begin operation in 2017.
