True to its reputation as an innovative, forward-thinking industry leader, Preferred is one of the first companies to open an in-basin sand mine to serve the prolific SCOOP, STACK and other Midcontinent formations.
This announcement comes on the heels of recent openings of Preferred’s other in-basin mines in South Texas and West Texas, serving the Eagle Ford Shale and Permian Basin.
Preferred Sands operations senior vice president Chris Samanns said: “The opening of our Oakwood facility marks another key milestone for Preferred as we continue to deliver on our national in-basin strategy.
“We look forward to this tremendous opportunity in Oklahoma and remain committed to providing the lowest cost-landed-at-well in the Mid-Con and in all regions we serve.”
The new logistically advantaged facility is situated between Dewey and Blaine Counties and is located within five miles of two currently active rigs and within 75 miles of most major activity in the region.
The site has access to major roads, water and utilities, and consists primarily of 40/70 and 100 mesh high-quality local in-basin supply.
Preferred’s industry leading shift away from costly Northern White assets, in combination with the opening of its in-basin sand mines, has enabled the Company to expand aggressively into local, finer sand.
With fully operational in-basin facilities now in Oklahoma, West Texas and South Texas, Preferred anticipates growth of more than 7-8 million tons of in-basin capacity.
These facilities, along with Preferred’s legacy plants in Nebraska and Arizona, enable the Company to conveniently and efficiently serve exploration & production and oilfield service companies throughout the most prolific basins in North America.
